MARCH 15- 18, 2011
Mark those dates.
The busiest week for BC people is now approaching!
I am excited though, for the colloquium not to present therein but to finish it.
I want this semester to end immediately!
As I write this entry, I am inside my Internet Studies class and I am loving the debate herein.

Uncontrolled Variables
I was happy enough to be able to go home last Friday, even if I have a Saturday class on Advertising. It's just that my dad sent me a message which looked like more of a request than a question. So I did not response, until my mom called and that she asked if I can make that night. So Friday, after my head-breaking internship at PAWS, Abby and I watched the College of Science (CS) Idol at the NIGS Parking Lot to cheer and to support one of my best friends Floydy (not really his real name but it's fun that way, right Floyd?) well, it was worth it! I drolled over his first performance and that assured me that he will make it, though on his second performance, was not as good as his first. After Floydy's second performance, I bid goodbye to Abby, Joanna, and Ate Tina for I needed to catch a bus after the show.
Upon coming home at the dormitory, I rushed and packed all the necessary things that I needed to do on weekends. Books, and some more books.
The bus was the last one, so I convinced myself that it was fine to stand inside a bus. It was just after passing the last gasoline station in EDSA that I was able to sit.
Then came the weekend. I enjoyed it, however the books proved useless when I am at home. I read none, did none, and ate a lot!

When everyone doesn't get it
I have high respects to every member of the chapter, particularly in our chapter. I think they have a point on their arguments saying that the quality of brethren now is not as good as before, but I just don't understand why some brethren wanted to be so traditional when in fact we are already in a generation when what those brethren are advocating is not already applicable anymore or a way far to that mindset, I think.
When everyone doesn't get it, why do some people have to be a canon of something that is not an entirety of you? And that is a hypothetical question which is open to anyone to answer, if and only if you have the balls to be frank and brave enough to do so.
Now I am so tired with this kind of stuff. Can I have my breath back? LOL

Freemasonry in Pangasinan
I just came home from the public installation of ALS Lodge 158 and I am so excited for Freemasonry. i observed a lot of things that I haven't seen in DeMolay, maybe will not see in DeMolay since the ceremonies in Freemasonry is not the same with the rituals of DeMolay. I will blog in another entry about the installation per se but as for now, I still have to sleep. I haven't recovered yet from last night's sleeplessness.
Anyway, as I tweet my experience on tonight's experience, Kuya Mic replied on my posts which made me smile.

Photo available HERE. Used here for non-commercial purposes.
Cheers to my friends and batchmates in UP Baguio for producing this short film!
Now I am excited to watch this. How I wish I'd be able to watch all the entries in their film fest, especially this one since almost all of the production crew are my closest friends.
Cheers to People at the Back Productions!
Stagnation
I do not know why I am having this feeling again. I hate to think that when the semester is nearing its end, then here I am being stagnant and cannot flow with the requirements that I needed to accomplish before the deadline given. As I write this entry, I am feeling a warm tension on my butt due to the fact that I have been here in the main library of UP for almost 50 minutes now but haven't done any academic requirements. Before I decided to go here, I was stagnant in my dormitory room in Ipil.
There is also a feeling of stagnation whenever I feel like wanting to unwind. Trying to stop the fast-paced reality as it tries to swallow and take over me. I am but a person and that the physical environment that I am cannot be and will not an ideal place, but sometimes keeping that potential in the scenario changes everything- it makes you think and think again.
Anyway, I am being stagnant again in this entry. But it makes me happy knowing that this blog is not being stagnant in the cyberspace due to the number of hits whenever I see the counter. It keeps on kicking up everytime. I just wish these people who visit and read my entries will try to comment or express their opinions about the entries in this blog, for it not to be a complete stagnant in the cyber world.

From terror to joy
I am happy having Wang as partner. Before, we wanted to drop this subject but we are now loving it! I am grateful how this rocky experience in that class has turned out. Maybe, I just have to sacrifice something to gain more. I sacrificed a weekend at home for me to concentrate with this, but I really miss my family!
If I can only pull the end of the semester right now, I would. I need a long break. I need a vacation with family. I am excited for summer, however I do not like the fact that I so need to have summer classes. Anyway, I will concentrate more on this before having a great taste of that one great summer experience!

Dropping no more
Maybe it is not yet my time really to drop an academic subject. I hope I won't drop any. Aside from it's a waste of money because of the tuition fee you paid for that subject, it's also not good to look at a transcript with a "DRP" as a grade, and also, as what my mom told me, my efforts will just be wasted.
This morning, I decided to wake up early and attend my supposed last day in my Broadcast Criticism class, so I arrived earlier than what I used to do in class. My partner Wang called my name as I move towards the Media Center, so I waited for her. She told me that she was already decided and that she was going to drop the subject. I told her that I am not yet sure about it. I told her that we need to wait for our professor first.
Our professor came late. When he arrived, we presented her our the blue form which is the dropping slip. He told us that he cannot convince us anymore because he already talked to us yesterday. He said he will give us another chance because even if he signs the form, the standing will still be a passing mark. He told the class about our plans and that I feel so embarrassed, but on a second thought why would I be if I have a solid reason and I believe that my point is a big argument.
So Wang and I waited until the class ended, which ended at Aldaba Hall for a talk. As we were walking towards the venue, Wang told me that she was unsure but doesn't want to drop. I told her that I also don't want to drop, seeing Sir Eli and also my professor Sir Choy as the lights that can guide me to surpass this academic tunnel.
We told our professor that we won't drop. He accepted it and that he told us that he expects so much from us being the ones who want to quit the journey.
Before today, we already consulted with him. He said that if the only reason for us to drop his subject is because we think we can't do it, then we are already judging our capabilities and that we already belittles our intelligence because as early as now, according to Sir Choy, we are already giving up. He said that if we will quit now, what more when we already have our thesis, and when we have jobs already, will we be able to tell our bosses that we cannot do it and then quit?
Sir Choy does not really know the reason why we wanted to drop. I think it is good for him to know the other reason. And I believe that it is also for our benefit to just keep it between Wang and I. At least, our religious faith is not totally damaged because of our professor.
As Tatay Louie said during our conversation with him earlier today,

As Tatay Louie said during our conversation with him earlier today,
"Iba ang edukasyon dito sa UP. Matitindig ka talaga at masusubukan ang mga paniniwala at prinsipyo mo. Hindi tulad sa ibang paaralan na negosyo lang ang habol sa mga estudyante at papadaanin ka lang nila tapos graduation na. Dito hindi. Kahit na ako, maraming natutunan sa mga propesor dito."Anyway, I do appreciate my classmates, especially Stan, Camille, Red, Yvan, Jossa, and other friends who encouraged me and Wang to not drop the course. Thanks guys!

USC and CMC-SC Elections 2011
I just casted my vote this morning. First thing I did upon arriving at the College of Mass Communication. I did not vote for a straight slate. I voted for people who I think deserve the position they are running for. Being a person who has been exposed in politics since childhood, I voted for people who really care for the students and not for individuals who just seek the office only to protect their party's name.
I opted to abstain in some positions in the college-level. It's also a mix party for me. Though, it's dominated by a particular party which I prefer not to mention. I just hope the winners for the posts will really serve the students and should not only know the real world outside the university but also the world within the college.

Beastly: The Modern Beauty and the Beast in a Twist
Kuya Roman just tweeted this, and upon watching it, it made me really amazed!
I also wanna watch this.
I also wanna watch this.
Miss Mangaldan 2011 Pageant soars high
I was taken aback by these photos upon seeing them this morning. I was at first amazed by how elegant-looking the stage was during the pageant. However, I was disappointed by the candidates upon seeing them during the launch of the Miss Mangaldan. The stage might looks o beautiful but the quality of the contestants chosen were not as good looking as the past candidates of the pageant. I even saw some ladies who already joined the pageant in 2009 and is still in this year's competition. I haven't read the Competition Guidelines yet so I really do not know the business of the organizers and the other candidates.
Anyway, I must congratulate Councilor Baby Abalos and other organizers for putting up a great show. Kuya Jojo must also be given merit for the stage design which I think he conceptualized, and of course for the photos used in this entry.
Congratulations to all the ladies. To our Miss Mangaldan 2011, Ms. Angelica Demandante, you do deserve the crown, just by judging your beauty, though I haven't watched the Question and Answer part of the competition.
The last Miss Mangaldan Pageant was held on 2009 which we watched live at the town plaza together with high school friends. And I was totally taken away by the productions and the stage design. Trully, Mangaldan soars high. I only hope that they did not over spend the budget too much. Ad the proper budgeting and auditing must be done as soon as possible for transparency purposes.

Valentine's Day with friends
Since I needed to be in school today for a meeting with my groupmate in a report, I was not able to spend this supposed romantic day of the year. So thankfully my friends from UP Baguio was here today and researched at the CMC Library for their thesis. Carmi and Lyle were two of my best girl friends in UPB even when I was still a freshie. Well, back when we were freshie. They were my block mates then.
I was late to arrive at the library because I still came from a 5-AM trip from Pangasinan and that I arrived here past 10 in the morning. I took a cab from Quezon Ave to UP for a faster ride. Then off to CMC.
I find it cool that Lyle and I have the color of shirts, purple!
After doing some paper stuff at the library, we walked from CMC to the Shopping Center. Ate lunch at Rodics. Gave them flowers and strawberry shakes. I told them that I brought Baguio in Diliman with the roses and strawberry. They found it sweet.
They found my jokes corny and greeny, too. They were in a rush since they still have a rehearsal in Baguio in the afternoon.
I might not spend this day with the person I love, at least I got to spend it with the people I missed and love! I am planning the perfect date for me and the person I love. But I hope she won't read this so that it will remain a surprise.

Hot off the Grill: The USC and CMC-SC candidates' face-off
The candidates for this year's University and college-wide elections had the chance to present themselves to the students of the College of Mass Communication this afternoon during 'Hot Off the Grill' a candidates's forum presented by the UP Mass Communicators' Organization.
UNIVERSITY-WIDE
Since I was not able to attend the meeting-de-avanse held at my dormitory, the Ipil Residence Hall, I was craving to meet these candidates. Though I was really not expecting these three political parties to be in there, all the time I thought it was only the college-based candidates who will face it off, so I wore a blue top.
Anyway, it cannot be denied that the CMC is a red-dominated college. Almost all the students herein are active with national and university issues that affect students. And maybe because the STAND-UP has a college-based party in CMC.
Alyansa, Kaisa, and STAND-UP had their own gimmicks in presenting their platforms and their slate. STAND-UP's platforms revolve mostly on the issues and I was not able to decipher their plans straightly unlike the two parties. I just found out their offers by reading their leaflets of GPOA.
Alyansa had most of their councilors present while Kaisa had the least number of attendees to the event. I am still not decided whom to vote for but one thing for sure, my ballot will be of mix parties and I won't stick to only one party.
COLLEGE-BASED
Interdependent Student Activism or ISA and the Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP- CMC have battled it up for the CMC-SC. The debate was great, it was indeed HOTTT!
I already have my Chairperson, however I still do not have a Vice Chairperson just as yet. My ballot for this will include candidates from the two parties and will not stick to one. I believe that some people in the other party deserve to win.
I have to give merit to the both party for giving us a nice show and it was indeed enlightening. I learned more about the politics within the college, the personalities of these peoples, and the college itself.
I just have to decipher more if these people deserve the positions they are aiming to have.

Insights on the 2011 UP LAE Results
Kudos to all the passers for this year's University of the Philippines Law Aptitude Examination. I am so happy for my orgmates in UP Circle of Entrepreneurs Ate Yna (Catherina Jimenez), Ate Maf (Maria Fe Aguila), Kuya Pao (Pacifico Angelo Magno), and even my co-applicants Manfred (Manfred Manalo) and Rheg (Rhegine Peralta). Cheers to you guys!
I also saw some Broadcast Communication students who made it to UP Law Mr. Paolo Agbayani and Ms. Erika Migrino. I even saw Ms. Migrino during the LAE Orientation Program held at Malcolm Hall last year.
Now the pressure is on for the next batch of LAE takers, and I am one of them. I am praying so hard to make it to UP Law. I just realized last when I visited another law school near Mendiola that I cannot live in such a crowded and fast-paced atmosphere. I am praying so hard for this, really. Please do pray for me, too.
