Pangasinan here I come

So here I am inside our classroom in my CWTS 1 class, waiting for other classmates to come.
As of now we are only five students here.
After this class, I will go straight ahead to Cubao and ride on a Five Star bus and go home to Pangasinan.
I got a lot of commitments to DeMolay and I need to attend to those commitments.

And I got to show my papers with grades to my parents and ate, I hope they like my grades. Yipee!
I want to go home, ASAP! Oh, please CTWS do not be long.

Kisap Mata

SOBRANG BILIS at hindi ko namalayang nawala na pala. Buti hindi kasing lalim ang naiwang bakas ng isang linggong pagkakakulong mula sa emosyong hindi naman pala dapat pinansin noong simula pa lamang.

DeMOLAY: Giving Away more than just Hydration

The coldness of the early morning breeze gave me warmth. Warmth that served as an inspiration to give the best service I, together with my brethren in the Order of DeMolay Pangasinan Chapter and with dad Masons can render to contribute and play a vital role to this significant event.
The 34th Milo Marathon that was held in Dagupan City on July 11, 2010 was a memorable one not only because it was my first time to work with my brethren on the field, nor because I got a chance to obtain my very first DeMolay shirt, but because I got the chance to serve my fellow citizens even in a simplest form of preparing and handing over drinks to the participants in the long-distance race.
Prior to the event, I was this sleepy student in my 3-hour CWTS class which is scheduled on Saturdays. Having to cram for a paper due on that date made me more stressed out, though fighting the drowsiness in class was worth it because all I got to think was the event on the day after that- the Milo Marathon! After we have been dismissed in class, I rushed to another building and met my friends to discuss and to make a case study which took us three hours to finish. As I got back to the dormitory, I immediately logged out on the records book, and rushed to Cubao for a bus going home. But waiting for two hours for entire vehicle to be filled up was definitely uncomfortable. My six-and-so hours of travel made me feel more uneasy.
As I got home at around 11 in the evening, my dad was still up waiting for me as if he’s checking if I came home completely and safely. We had a couple of conversations about almost anything- from academics, to girlfriend, to politics, to DeMolay, and to Masonry. After our talk, I just realized that I only got a few hours to sleep. I asked my cousin who happened to be at home to wake me up at two in the morning, though I also set my alarm for guarantee.
I was doomed knowing that I woke up a few minutes later, so I barely got a chance to take a bath.  I just rushed everything from shower to riding and going to the event place. I texted PMC Brother Gerald Padilla, who is just a stone-throw away from our place, if he was still around home at that time, luckily he was. So we went together to the venue and upon arriving to Dagupan City, we texted PMC, Chev. Brother Marcy Tagulinao, who substantially lead and organized the DeMolay for the event, if they were already on the location. They said they needed a car for the materials, so we went to the place of Brother Marcy and helped in carrying the materials needed. That was memorable- I got my very first DeMolay shirt at the very instant! As we went inside the car, I immediately changed my shirt and wore it-the consolation of attending the event.
The brethren and I who were on the van, were totally amazed seeing people wearing the Milo shirt and jogging as they proceed to CSI Atrium in Lucao, Dagupan City for the much anticipated and the biggest marathon in the province, and in the country as well since Milo is holding other elimination rounds all over the Philippines.
Upon arrival to CSI Lucao, the massive number of participants overwhelmed me and my brethren. But the fact that I saw some of the dad Mason got angry that we were late, shunned me. Nevertheless, these dad Masons were there to guide us throughout the event. We cannot thank you enough for the guidance that you give us and for the knowledge you share with us. To the dad Masons who were there in the 34th Milo Marathon, dad Melvin Calimlim, dad Marlowe Garantoza, dad Mario David, dad Simon Brown, Dad Gilbert Sanchez, dad Gary Velasco, and dad Rey Jimenez.
The sun revealed its power as its light came out which marked the start of the mission of the Order of DeMolay Pangasinan Chapter.
Excited as I was, I went immediately with my team. Having Brother Axel Agsalud as our team head gave me relief, he commanded others and executed the tasks well. We were made to ride on an ambulance since the Milo was supposed to deliver us on our locations. Thanks to PMC Brother Jech Palaganas and his group for transporting us to the different stations that were assigned to us by team. I remember Brother Jonathan Tolin as he jokingly said that we might be with somebody on that moment as we were on our way to the sites using the ambulance.
Our team was still divided into smaller groups for us to efficiently carry on our task. I and Brother Gerald worked together. It was great knowing that another non-governmental organization (NGO) or the Pangasinan Chapter of the Red Cross Philippines was also in the same station as ours, and on the different teams, too. The Red Cross plus the DeMolay, it was equated to a perfect combination!
. It is on that hydration station where met and knew dad Mason Reynaldo Marlo Jimenez or simply, dad RJ, and he really looked athletic. Brother Gerald told me that last year, DeMolay did join the Milo Marathon and ran together with some dad Masons including dad RJ. I befriend him in Facebook and visited his blog site, it came to my knowledge that he really is active on sports, particularly on running. He has been to different places and literally ran all the way there. During the event, he participated to the 21-K run. As he traversed back, he looked like he took a shower-full of water on the stations that he passed by. Maybe it is a way for athletes to cool themselves- a form of escape to sun’s invasive rays.
On the 21-K run, I saw an elderly man, maybe late 60s or early 70s, joined the 21-K race. He was an epitome of a strong man. As I handed him a drink, he was like about to give in to the tiredness brought by the race, but he remained strong throughout the race. Handing over drinks to these strong men and women who joined the marathon, gave me more pride of being a DeMolay, it is an honor to be part of the so-called hydration team-the name of the group that is way beyond the term itself.
After the marathon, the different teams needed to assure that the place was clean and orderly. A number of water galloons, plastic cups, and garbage bags can attest to the service that the DeMolay, the dad Masons, and the volunteers have provided. Brother Jech fetched us up on the various locations and transported us back to the main venue. There I saw a number of brethren looking tired yet still happy while sharing different random stories that we have encountered during the event.
I do not know if the lessons that we discussed in my CTWS class which was on citizenship and volunteerism was just a coincidence on that of the Milo marathon wherein DeMolay Pangasinan volunteered. I do not know if the participants would remember the people who handed them drinks amidst the arduous marathon they were in. But there is only one thing that I know for now, that the Demolay Pangasinan Chapter together with the support of our dad Masons, did not just give out water-filled cups during the event, but we rendered a hefty service that is vital to a runner for him to be able to survive the marathon and to reach the finish line. #

Chat with a Muslim BVD vendor

I was a bit annoyed by the fact that I waited two straight hours on a Friday afternoon dated July 23,  just to have a Five Star bus bound to Dagupan City. But one thing that pleased me that afternoon was my conversation with a Muslim DVD vendor.

I did not hesitate to ask him about his job, and how much does he earn but I was amazed more on the facts that he told me about his being Muslim.

He is now 20 years old, has a child, and is now married. He told me that one of the customs of Muslim is to pay the woman that she wanted to marry- the lowest would be 250,00 pesos. And if the woman hails from a higher class family, it would cost you 500,000 pesos or more. So that love really is sooo expensive! But he is married to a half-muslim and half Christian so that did not require him to pay.

He told me that he's now two years here in Manila and he preferred to stay here than in the province since he feels the poverty in their place. Unlik ehere that he can earn at least 1300 per night and in December alone, can get him 30,000 pesos!

The bus bound to Dagupan City came, so I bid goodbye. I was not able to ask his name. But I am thankful to that Muslim brother, since he opened a wider sight for me to look at the Filipino Muslims.

Amazed

My professor in Interactive Broadcasting is currently at Malaysia and is attending a conference, and guess what, she will also be a speaker and she's going to present her paper there!
It is an international conference and a lot of intelligentsia on cybernetics will be there! I am just so proud of her!

For Ma'am Data Canlas, cheers!

8-14 Advocacy

Yes! I have less than a month to prepare for this advocacy of mine!
It is my birthday celebration with kids from some of the rural area in my town, or maybe some selected places or barangays where children need more of that 'advocacy.'
Well, it is not that big but I just wanted to at least start this and I am planning to do it annually starting this year.
I have not told my parents about this just as yet, maybe because I have just thought of this early this week while thinking about something worth doing for my 19th birthday celebration other than the usual food-karaoke-food stuff that we do yearly.

No electricity at UP Diliman

That is why I am now at SM north EDSA to recharge my phone and to connect to the net.
Oh my, now I know how we really need electricity nowadays!
Last night I slept at 6:30 in the evening because I said to myself I needed to take a rest for me to have more energy in doing schoolworks in the late evening.
But upon waking up, the lights went off, totally! So I worried that I might not do my stuff.
Thanks to the candle that served as my light last night while I did my BA 101 paper.
I am also thankful that my laptop still had enough batteries for me to finish my 1-page paper due today.

Connected, at last!

Advocacy

I am planning to be with kids in my town on that day.
I want to do some "good" stuff and offer something new to them.
Not because I like to, but because I want to return the favor to the place that has sheltered me through the years.
Spending the day with friends and classmates through the years on that particular day has been fun, now I'm on to something new, something worth doing.

Advanced happy birthday to me. August I love you my dear moth!

I do not mean that I do not have true friends now.

Barangay and SK Elections: to move or not to move

THE above news was given by my auntie Merna through a Facebook message. Here is my response to her.
I do not confirm to such Bill. the reason "upang maipagpatuloy ng mga ito ang nasimulang proyekto" is out of the context.

Ambabaw ng rason, making no sense at all. If these officials were really of the service to their constituents, they should have planned the span of their projects beforehand.

Maybe, just an assumption, Miguel Zubiri wanted to pay back the support of his city-mates who have supported him in his mayoralty race here in Quezon City. That is why he has proposed this stupid and useless bill. I am sorry for my words, Auntie Merna, but I strong oppose such bill proposal.

The House of the Senate should not pay attention to such bill which has insignificant agenda.

Befriend and Work

Here is my final output in my Broadcast Communication 148 class. You know what's more interesting than doing this activity is the fact that you get to know another person and be able to befriend him or her.
I like kids that is why I wanted to highlight them through this photo. Especially now the number of kids that is on the street and doing the things that even their fragile bodies cannot do, they still push their limits just to earn money so that they can buy food for themselves.

I found this picture so interesting that I have written to the one says on Flickr, the owner.

But it turned out that the person I wrote to was not the one who owns the picture, he just took the photo but his boss was the one who I am supposed to write to first. Here's what he replied to me.

I sent a message to him saying that I badly need it as soon as possible since I need to show him the output after editing it. I am lucky enough to have this new friend that is so nice and was able to send the file I need without going through many stages before I can have the copy.

Here is the original photo that he sent me. It is available at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ramdiboy/4325378340/in/photostream/

Again, thanks Thomas Tham for this wonderful masterpiece that you have.

Here is what he sent me just by now. I already edited the pic, Thomas. Thanks again!

BA 101 Case Numbers 1 and 2

This is it!
The major requirement in my Business Administration 101 class- the cases!
I am quite excited since this will be our group's first date and we will first work as a team solving two business cases. I already read case one though I have not read yet the second case. I still need to make my own and later on the meeting, we will brainstorm, for us to come up with the best recommendation and solution to the cases.
I believe this is just the first of the few cases that we need to work in.
We are five in the group, Adrea, Ryan, Andrei, Annie and I. Two BA majors, one IE major, one BC major, and one cross registrant.
We hope we can answer and be bonded smoothly.
Aja to us!

Inauguration pics, later please

I could not wait to upload the pictures I took during the Inauguration of my dad!
Maybe I'm gonna buy a new memory card reader.
I used to borrow from a dorm mate but I am shy to borrow it again, he is a sophomore and I am a junior he might think that I am over using my power as an upperclassman.
So to those who are excited to see thephotos, please bear with me. I still need to purchase new memory card reader.

Oooops, I got a heavy day tomorrow.
Wish me luck, please.

I enjoyed my BC 148 class

I am happy because I had a great time with my BC 148 class this afternoon.
I have a classmate who is so good inside-out. She was willing to lend her books to me if ever I take Sir Chito as Comm 120 professor. I did not know that such lovely lady will be such a sweet and kind girl.
Kuya Jason, who has been my idol (naks!) since freshmen years, presendted his Balangingi film in class! And I still could not forget those scenes and lines. He was the one wrote, shoot and even edited it! Amazing, right?
What amazed me more is the fact that he wrote in a just a week and shoot for only three days!
What a brain!!
