What happened to our society?

As a father of two beautiful daughters, I cannot help but feel worried about the immediate transformation, or should I say degradation in the society upon watching or reading the news recently. I know our government has been active in its fight against illegal drugs and other crimes, but is it still lacking? Or are the perpetrators or criminals able to adapt to the changes of time?

I hope that the government will continue to prosecute criminals and that justice be delivered to the victims and to their families. 

I do not want anything bad to happen to my family, especially my children. I am definitely sure, all fathers like me would agree that we will do anything to protect our family.

True Justice

"...true justice is about uncovering the truth and holding people accountable for their actions regardless of their positions in office or society." -Senator Francis Pangilinan (in PDI December 10, 2011)

I am not really into the GMA election fraud case, but this statement of Senator Pangilinan is true and that true justice should therefore be served to anyone or anything, including the Philippines whcih was raped by then President Arroyo and her allies.

Orgasm of a dream

Marahil marami tayong pangarap sa buhay. Ang ilan ay gusto sigurong mangibang-bayan upang doon suungin ang mga hamon ng buhay, samatala ang iba ay nanaising manatili sa bayang tinubuan para dito ipagpatuloy ang laban ng buhay.

Nais kong maging matagumpay at dalubhasang Filipino sa maraming larangan. Alam kong hindi pa ganoon kalinaw kung saang direksyon ako magpapatuloy matapos ang kolehiyo. Kung magbukas man ang opurtunidad na makapag-aral muli, akin iyong tatanggapin. Samatalang kung iba man ang plano para sa akin ng tadhana, akin din iyong kukunin ng buong-buo. Dahil sa kaguluhan ng pag-iisip ko kung ano nga ba talaga ang ninanais ko pagkatapos grumadweyt, marami na rin akong naisakripisyong mga sana'y opurtunidad na noon ay hindi ko man lang nabigyan ng halaga. Mga taong nagmahal, nagpapamahal, at minahal. Mga bagay na inangkin, ibinigay, at itinabi.

Alam kong walang patutunguhan ang blog entry na ito. Nais ko lamang magpahayag ng mga bagay-bagay na nasa aking isipan matapos makapag-basa ng mga teoryang talaga namang tumagos sa aking pagkatao. Ito'y mga teoryang may kinalaman sa nais kong marating isang taon mula ngayon. Ngunit, kinakailangan ko nga bang magpa-apekto?

Kagabi bago matulog, ako ay napadala ng mga mensahe sa mga iilang mga tao sa aking contect list sa cellphone ko. Ang laman ng text ko ay:

Pangarap kong maging isang magaling at dalubhasang Filipino. Tara, matulog na tayo at magising sa bukas na maaliwalas.

Tapos biglang nag-reply si Ate Carmela, ang aking kaklase at kaibigan na nagdadadalubhasa sa teorya ni Michel Foucalt na gagamitin niya sa proposal niya pang-tisis.

Hindi ko na makakamtan ang pangarap na iyan sapagkat nag-iisip at nagsusuri ako sa Ingles. Naka-kahon na ako sa Ingles. Filipino will always sound beautiful. Hanggang pakikinig na lang ako.

Bigla akong natahimik pagkabasa ang kanyang mensahe. Hindi ko na kakayanin pang patayin ang init at nagbabagang pangarap na mayroon ako, malabo man yan o malinaw. Hindi ko lubos maisip na ang isang kaibigang magaling mag-isip ay tila naging isang saging sa champorado.

Marahil, makitid pa rin ang aking perspektibo at pananaw sa mundong aking ginagalawan. O siguro ay naka-kahon na rin ako sa mga teoryang inakala kong magpapalaya sa akin? Hanggang dito na lang siguro ako sa ngayon. Haharapapin pa ang mga hamon ng pagiging iskolar.

Sandali. Matanong kita. Anong pangarap mo?

 

Kabilang dako ng Urbanisasyon

Sila'y patungong siyudad. Mas pinili naming hindi magpasakop

 sa komersyalisasyon at urbanisasyong meron doon, 

kahit na kami ay napapaloob din dito.

Iyon ang bahay nila. Ito ang bahay namin.

Rizal as the Philippine National Hero?

     The Philippine National Hero, whom I believe does not fit the title, was a Mason. Yes, I do not believe in him being the country's national hero, although he is a member of the Freemasonry. 

     I remember our discussion in my Philippine history class wherein it was debated whether or not he deserved such title. I learned that he was just chosen by the American government then to be our national hero. The reason being is the fact that he fought for our country's freedom against the Spanish regime using his intelligence- he published progressive books that agitated and liberated Filipinos. He used nothing but his pens and his creative mind. He was not like Andres Bonifacio who fought using Bolos and encouraged force to be used by the Filipinos. Bonifacio fought for our freedom. This is contrary to the issue that Rizal was the prime mover of the revolution, because while Rizal was writing his books, the Katipunan is already being formed, according to my history professor who earned his Masters degree in history in the U.P. He was chosen by the American government to be the emblem of heroism in the Philippines because they want the representative of the country to be not as radical as Bonifacio, or any other her who literally fought for our freedom. I believe that they wanted to have a passive type of hero, who represents the country.

    I have nothing against Rizal's way of fighting for our freedom, but I believe someone else deserves the title more than him. Anyway, this death anniversary represents the tragic point in the Philippine history wherein the one who published progressive books, and the one who womanized a lot of girls during his time, was shot at the Luneta Park.  He will always have the title as the Philippine's National Hero and will always represent the type of Philippine heroism imposed by the Americans. 

       To lessen the bitterness to Rizal, one of the few things I appreciate that he did for the country is the fact that he was the prime mover for us having Alibata as our formal written language. Yes, he was also an intelligent physician and author, and also a womanizer.

Yes, you may find it ironic that I who is non-believer of Rizal offered flowers to him, well, I still respect him anyway. He is still a Mason, and he still contributed something for the democracy of Filipinos in a way he only knew.

First time to enter UP Law

I have been to the UP College of Law for the first time! Yes! it was quite scary inside since I know that most of the law students if not, all are geeks! I mean, com'on that is the premiere law school in the country, I think, so I thought maybe people there are all serious when it comes to their academics. Well, everyone should but I just cannot imagine law students having a night and social life parties! Anyway, I went there yesterday to inquire about the LAE forms if it is now available but a lady with the security guard said that they will release the forms on August. So I just asked about the requirements, they said there are no GWA cut-off or something. They just needed you to have 12 units of English, otherwise if you did make it to LAE and enrolled to UP Law, you have a year to comply with the requirements, thus you need to take summer classes. 


I am just inspired by the fact that after taking my undergraduate course, I will take Law. Yes, I will do this since my parents wanted this for me. Well, I once failed them on my undergraduate choice of course, they wanted me to take Communication Research but on I changed it to Broadcast Communication. So, I will obey my parents on what they want from me since I do love them and I want them to be proud of me. 

I know you might think that I am in UP where freedom is unquestionable but not with this decison that I made already and locked with my parents decisions. I will love to study the law of the land. I will do justice and serve the people. Just like what the banner of the UP Law says on the picture above. 

Though my parents are considering San Beda College of Law for me to enroll in I already told them also that I will do and give my super best for me to enter UP Law, since I know how expensive it is to enroll to other law schools in the Philippines.
